This photograph was taken for my lighting class. The assignment was to take a photograph in the style of Yousef Karsh. Karsh's style is known for it's unique lighting techniques. My sister, Andrea, was my model. This was a really fun assignment. It was interesting to play with the lights and see the different looks you could create. Not so much fun for the models, though. Those lights are hot!

Lookout on Hwy 36
This photo was taken for my photojournalism class. The assignment was to take photographs with our cell phones. I was not interested in this assignment at all. I've had a camera phone for years, but never had any interest in using it. Why would I when I have a perfectly good point and shoot? Once I did this assignment, I discovered that my phone actually took really good quality pictures. This was one of my favorites, I just really like the angle (which was unintentional).

Martini
This was a really fun assignment for my lighting class. I set this martini glass and stir stick on a wood surface in front of a white scrim and placed the light behind the scrim. The final product was to be black and white, but it was fun in color, too. This assignment made me want to go home and gather every glass piece that I owned and photograph it. Very cool!

Romance for One
This was an assignment for my lighting class. The assignment was to create a mood using light. I came across this lighting arrangement by accident, it looked like someone cracked the door to a room open and the light poured in to reveal the scene inside. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but was very happy with the result. This was taken with a 4x5 camera.

In the Shade
This photograph was my final still life for my Large Format and Lighting class. The objective was to combine at least three different elements to create an interesting image. I love the beach, so I used some of my favorite things, flip flops, sand, flowers and a beach towel. This photograph was shot with a 4x5 camera.
